plugs and gas mixture for 1960 (maybe) 18 HP Evinrude

I purchased an 18 HP Evinrude yesterday and it looks to be in great shape .The serial # is 15032 15033 which looks like it could be a 1960 model. It had J4C plugs and I read somewhere that I could use J8C as they ran hotter ,so can you recommend what I should use. Also the fuel mixture is a mystery " Thanks 'Gary M

The original mix from the factory was 24:1---------With the thermostat installed it will run / troll well with the J4C in it.
