"Hey guy's,

I just changed my plugs & wires, however when I was doing it, both wires came off at same time. This was on the starboard engine( outside bank of plugs) so couldn't really see well, I have put them back on where I thought they should be, the engine starts and seems to idle fine, what would be a indication that they are on right or wrong?,please advise. Thanks so much."

"dont you know how to read firing order?? if not , probally should not be working on engine!!!!"

"Thanks Ted for your tip !, ye

"Thanks Ted for your tip !, yes I suppose you are right, however if a person doesn't ask then they won't know, and there would be no reason for this forum."

"Lighten up, Ted! Some boats are a bitch to work on, with feel the only way to do things. And the way Chrysler stuffed the wires between the manifolds and valve covers makes it easy to loose track of a wire as it passes through.

And, no, the motor will idle surprisingly well--even plane the boat off--with a couple of crossed wires. Mine started popping at 2,500 rpms and was sluggish on plane off--with two wires crossed--but it planed off. (The marina guys did it to me. Honest.)

Here's how to tell if the wires are crossed: Warm the motor and let it idle. Pull one plug ire at a time out of the cap with insulated gloves on. The motor should slow immediately, then pick back up as you put the wire back. If it doesn't, leave that wire out and find the other one that does the same thing. Swap the two and all will be well!

Jeff"

"Thanks Jeff,

I'll give

"Thanks Jeff,

I'll give that a whirl, I installed the longer plug wires, which are so much better. And you are so right about working on these things, so many hard to reach places, once again thanks for the support.

Gerald."
