CAN THE PLUG WIRE BE REMOVED F

CAN THE PLUG WIRE BE REMOVED FROM THE COIL ON A 87 MERC 70HP. I PULLED PRETTY HARD AND IT DIDN'T MOVE.I WANT TO TEST THE WIRE BY ITSELF.
