Please try to help

I bought a 1969 18 horse Evinrude, model number 18902d. I have done everything I know how to do to fix this problem. It starts and runs at low rpm. But when I give it throttle it dies. Unless I can get it back to idle soon enough. It dies when the roller hits the cam and starts to move the arm that goes to the carb.
I have put in new coils, points, condensers, plugs and plug wires. When the boat motor mechanic pulled the bottom off the bowl of the carb.He said that there should have been a gasket over the center tube. He put one on the tube and he put in a new needle because. The one that was in there, did not have a groove in it for the spring to hook on to pull the needle back down. It seems to run fine in a barrel. But dies in the lake when I give it throttle. Any and all help will be very much appreciated. thank you

Did he clean the carb or only take the float bowl off. Also when that is happening try pumping the primer ball you may have a bad fuel pump

My Mechanic is going to compression test it the first of the week. I took it our this morning and adjusted the low speed as I was moving, and it makes no difference weather it is lean or rich. The darn thing falls on it's face when I give it throttle. It does it at the same place each and every time. All I have to do is put it back to start and it fires right up. No choke or anything. It just fires up as soon as I touch the button.

Is the throttle opening too soon ?--------------Is throttle opening at that scribe line on the cam or before that mark ?

Well, this is what is happening now. I took the motor back to the mechanic. He pulled the fly wheel, checked the points and cleaned them. Everything looked good. ( it should, everything in there is new ) He than adjusted the timing. As always, it did not run bad in the barrel. It would rev up. Just the way it is supposed to. He said if that doesn't work. He will not work on it again because he is stumped. Well, I took it to the lake this morning. It still does the same thing. It starts well and runs up to about six miles an hour ( guessing ) and then dies out. I can't sell this motor to any one else when it is not running right. I don't know what to do. Oh, I forgot he took a compression test. He got 105 on each cylinder. There is no other mechanics around here. I am on my own and don't know what to try now. Any suggestions, All will be appreciated. ( does anyone have a carb, that will fit that motor, that I could try.?? thanks agan
