I now have forcibly turned the bottom motor half of my MotorGuide Saltwater 50 lb. thrust trolling motor. And I'm about to do it again. Why forcibly? Because I can't turn the 2 set screws where to 2 shaft sections meet. They are hex head, and I've found the closest matching tool that fits. But they are really stuck!, showing signs of rust around the threads. I'm afraid I'll just strip them out trying more force to turn them.
But Why?, you may ask yourself :-| Hard to explain, but with little choice when trying to deploy the motor while boat still on trailer. Again why? Because I've never had to chance to launch the boat, since buying it last summer. A SeaMaster 16 ft. skiff. So in the process of testing it out, and now trying to adjust the turning center point to match the pedal inputs. If only it were the cable type which I've had past dealings with and never had any problems.
