"Bought a boat. Outboard has oil injection. Drained old gas and it had 2 stroke oil in it. The oil tank on outboard was very low or out. When i drained the old fuel, it had oil in it. Question 1:How can i check to see if oil injecter works; Q2: can i just pre-mix if the oil injector is bad?"

if my outboard does not piss, is there anything that a joe schmoe can do. Or do i need a mechanic. And what does the term over proping mean."

"if your engine is not pissing

"if your engine is not pissing its not cooling like it should be , dont run it,, your problem sounds like the water pump probably the impeller, get a water pump kit,use your manual to trouble shoot, most r easy do it yourself"

"Motor, new to you. Before tak

"Motor, new to you. Before taking it out and carving up the lake you should:

check the compression and confirm spark at all cylinders

change the impeller

change the gear oil

change the spark plugs

decarb the motor (Merc's "Powertune" or Seafoam works well - follow the directions on the can)

check for rotted/frayed/pinched lines, wires etc

inspect the fuel filter and replace if suspect

YOU have to assume that 1) the motor was not properly stored and 2) that the last owner did not take care of it properly unless they can show you invoices to prove it was recently looked at.

Otherwise you can turn a potentially good motor into junk in very short order.

Regardless of what "some guy" tells you, the fact is, that motor that "is running perfectly" is something that they no longer want, and if it was as perfect as they advertise, they would probably be keeping it....

I'm not saying every used motor is scrap, but you have to "see for yourself" and assume it has been neglected..."
