I was out on the water the past two day with my 50 hp Johnson then out of no where it felt like it was running out of gas witch it was the tank was dry and there was just a little bit left in the hose but mostly air I got more fuel in the tank befor it shut off on me but it still seems like it running out of fuel it has no power I don't know if I got air into the motor or something but I really need help

We need a bit more info. What year and model is it? Original steel fuel tank? Maybe its newer and has a plastic tank.
I'm gonna run out to my shop, gotta finish an outboard for someone. Will check back later. Tim

Is there any dirt in the tank? Also check both the tank screen and the fuel pump screen. Be sure to reposition the fuel pump screen carefully in the same spot and finger tighten the screw only. Dont over tighten, if it leaks when you put it back together....... be careful. Make sure no water in fuel.

If it is 1980 and newer it will have 3 letters at the end of the number. The letters are related to the word "INTRODUCES" the "I" is a 1, the "N" is a 2 and so forth all the way to "S" which is a 0. The third letter from the last is the first number of the year of your motor, and the second letter from the last will be the second number of the year of your motor. For instance a 1999 will end in EES. The last letter, (S), means something else.
