I have a 98' Yamaha 225 v-max on a Triton TR-21 that has sat up for 5-6 years. So Im trying to get it back in running condition. Of course, I had to pump out 35 gal. of bad gas. Then I put 20 gal, of fresh gas in and added some Seafoam. I tried pumping up the bulb and it seemed that it would not pump up tight, later I realized that it was, either air locked or I just didn't squeeze it enough, I went to crank it, it didn't even try to start. So I tried to pump the bulb up more and bleed the lines. Anyway that didn't work. So I took some mixed gas and a spray bottle and sprayed each cylinder with 2 squits of gas and then roooomm! It fired up,I did this three more times. Realizing that fuel wasn't going through the system. I then took a hand pump and connected it up just before the primer bulb. I then pumped gas into the system bleeding each connection up to the fuel injection pump. I removed the hose off of the top of the fuel injection pump that leads down to the bottom of the fuel rail, so I could see if any gas would spray up out of the top of the pump. I turned the key on and it was like two little bubbles dribbled out. So then called a service tech about it and he asked me, that if the key was turned on could I hear any fuel going into the injection pump reservoir. Hard to tell with just me here. So I called my son up and asked him to ride over. When he arrived, we checked it and yes I could hear fuel running into it. So the tech said that it was probably the low pressure pump running. And the tech said, take the high pressure pump out and hook it up to 12 volts and see if it would come on, so we did and the pump didn't run but it did click as if it had some trash or something in it that was causing it to bind up. So my son said let take the pump apart, and I showed him that the top and bottom of the pump was ( crimped, folded over ea.edge) so as I had to leave for awhile, I came back and what had my bull-headed son had done? You guessed it, he had tried to uncrimped the bottom edge. He said well its not going to hurt, if we get it freed up the pump will hold itself up because the canister part can't come off, for the top of the pump is what holds the pump up ( omg ) It bolts on at the top. So, anyways we sprayed some P.B BLAST through it many time. So now the pump has been soaking in a glass full of W.D-40 all night long. Now I am honestly scared of what the outcome is going to be, even if we get it freed up, what about getting it crimped back up at the bottom of the pump. we are talking about a $836.19 pump. I've already spent over $700.00 on this project. I guess the deal (what does BOAT stand for?) BRING ON ANOTHER THOUSAND. Stands true. Lol So if there are any suggestions at all, My ears are wide open.

lol.. the selenoid inside the pump just got stuck from sitting too long. All you had to do was connect 12V to it and tap the body of the pump gently with a screw driver. I had this happened to me on both old cars and boats and I was able to cure it cheaply. If you can hear it click then you can cure it with the tapping. If it doesn't click then the selenoid is completely dead. Good luck.

ok now I have a larger problem with the fuel pump, I had told my son what had happened and he was going to have look at it while I was gone to town to get parts. Needless to say, when I returned he had took a screw driver and where the knurled part of the fuel pump is ( on the bottom of the pump) he had bent the freckling lip opened half way around the pump. Needless to say it is working now, but I'm reluctant to curl it back fearing that it might totally screw it up. Anyway I took the top main line that is located direct above the pump, and turned the key on and it's shooting a stream of gas about 3" above the top of the fuel injection pump. However im not getting fuel to the injectors. I have took a spray bottle of mixed gas and sprayed a constant mist in front of all 6 cylinder and it will run as long as your spraying fuel. I told the wife that we will go boat riding as long as she sits back there and constantly sprays fuel lol. But anyway does anyone have any advice ?
