"How does this bracket hold the shift cam boot in place on a 1983 15 hp Mariner? I know it has a screw to tighten it to the rubber boot. Nevertheless, how does that keep the boot in the lower unit hole? Even with the screw tight, the shift cam can be pulled out of the gear housing. I noticed that it is cam shaped does it need to be rotated to lock in place? I am concerned about the boot moving up and water getting into the gear housing. Should I put a little sealer on the boot to keep in the hole?
