PL-88 load adapter

I have a 1995 Johnson 200hp Venom with no spark on all cylinders, the stator is new, the timer base dva output is .5 -.8 volts. To check power pack output my Seloc manual says to disconnect the primary lead to the coil and use a load adapter to check the voltage. Does leaving the primary lead connected to the coil and checking at that connection eliminate the need for the load adapter??

Thanks so much for responding, I've owned this boat since 2001 and have been dreading the time when this was going to start happening, I'm not very good with testing electronics, I've been reading through cdi troubleshooting, my stator is new, I think my timer base is ok, although when I test it I don't see the resistance recommended, it says 1-5m ohms, I either get 760ish or on the 20m ohm setting I've seen 14.5 to 16.3?? But it also says if the numbers are consistent across the cylinders and the dva is good ( I got .5 - .8 v) then the timer base should be ok? I need to try to understand checking the power pack.

If I disconnect the main wiring harness, and still have no spark, doesn't that eliminate the shift switch, the safety lanyard switch, and the key switch? Which would isolate the issue to the stator, the timer base, or the power pack?
