what is this? or where does it go its off my tilt and trim i just got. the top or the silver part moves up and down , the unit is a prestolite brand tilt trim.

That was commonly used back in ther 1960's on the "Tilt Only" units. It was situated in a location to hydraulically release the reverse locking mechanism on the engine of that era.

:)great thanks !!!!! so it would not hurt if i just removed it and put a plug in where the line goes in to the pump?im using this on my 1975. thanks joe you are a great asset to this forum , you should ask for a raise in pay .....lol:)
 
Yep..... Do away with it, you don't need it.

Raise? Years ago, Andrew said he would pay me what I was worth. I told him I couldn't live on that. :)
