Has anyone experienced water c

Has anyone experienced water coming in through the water exhaust and into the engine? Could this be due to a poor design on the rubber flap? What can I do to solve this problem?

"Water can get into the engine

"Water can get into the engine thru the exhaust many different ways, for many different reasons........

A Poorly Designed Flapper Usually isn't the Problem,........
But,...
An Abused Flapper can give you Alot of Grief.......

A more complete explanation of the circumstances that lead up to your Issue,.....
Will Really Help in your Diagnosis........"

"This all started when my engine started popping at 3200 rpm. Thought it was the carb but it checked out ok. Put in a new elbow, but no change. Took it out on the lake and throttled it and stopped and let wake hit the boat. Checked engine and found water in the cylinders and oil."

"Backfiring at 3200rpms Sounds

"Backfiring at 3200rpms Sounds like a Fuel Issue,....
Popping like that Usually shows a Lean Condition.....
Whether it's the Carb. or something Up-stream from there I don't know.......

"Took it out on the lake and throttled it and stopped and let wake hit the boat."

I don't know Why you'd do that Intentionally,....
But even a flapper in reasonably good condition would have a hard time holding the water out......
And,....
If the motor has EVER been run with less than ideal Water Flow,.....
There's a good chance that the flapper could be Burnt.......
'cause it's the 1st thing to Fail in a Low Water Flow situation........

I'd suggest that you Verify that you're getting the Required 5psi of Clear Fuel Flow to the Carb,......
And,...
You might want to Pull the Exhaust Elbow,+ Look to See if you even Have a Flapper Valve.......

Good Luck......"

"Just a thought....wanted to k

"Just a thought....wanted to know if I can disconnect and plug my exhaust going to the outdrive, and run an exhaust from the top of the manifold where the elbow is, straight out the back of the boat without hurting anything."

"There are No Fittings or Pipe

"There are No Fittings or Pipes that'll Do that.........

Your Riser points Down,+ they don't make 1 that fits your manifold, that does Anything else,.....

Blocking off the Downpipe would be Easy,.....
Except it would Still be In your Way,.....Right at the Riser Outlet.......
You could Block it Off at the Transom Plate, with a homemade Block-off Plate,......
'Course,... Ya Gotta Pull the Motor to Do it.......

Believe Me,...... It's Easier to just Fix it the Right Way........"

I have an AQ125A that was popp

I have an AQ125A that was popping around 3200 RPM and it was the exaust manifold. Number 3 and Number 4 Cylinder was getting a mist of water due to baffle in exaust manifold being completely wasted. Also had to build up the gasket surface due to corrison. I rebuilt the carb and changed out alot of things which were not cheap only to find the problem.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I think most like likely it is my exhaust manifold and will be checking that soon.

I removed the exaust manifold

I removed the exaust manifold today and it looks like that's where the problem is. Water is leaking from the water chamber to the exhaust chamber. Thanks for your help.
