I have a PCM 4140 in a 17ft Shamrock which I am rebuilding from the deck up. The 4140 has a Rochester 17059053 carb on it as standard which I have a rebuild kit for, however the float chamber has obviously sat with some salt water in it and has pitted through. I have another carb body to rebuild it with, however a lot of the components are corroded and old and I think it will only be a matter if time before Frankenstein carb fails.
I have been trying to source a reconditioned 17059053 without any luck and I don't know enough on how to match up a different carb to this engine.
Does anyone know:
1. Where I might find an old carb in better condition than mine that I can rebuild or even reconditioned carb (Sierra Marine etc dont have any)?
2. Which, if any, alternative carb numbers might match up and how do I go about working that out?
