Parts cleaner?

Hi,
I purchased a 20 gal parts cleaner. Is deisel fuel a good and safe product to use for cleaning parts. Should I keep it outside for safety?

I use regular mineral spirits (Varsol) in mine. Just don't smoke around it.

I would go with mineral spirits, cleaner and cheaper.

I also use mineral spirits. Check around for a commercial supplier for the most reasonable price.

Bill.... For what it's worth..................

As stated elsewhere, I use mineral spirits in my 20gal parts cleaner (purchased at Harbor Freight). I keep it in my enclosed garage which is attached to my house (it does not smell). For safety I always keep the lid closed unless in use. Mineral spirits is not highly combustible but keep flames away from it (don't tempt the fire Gods). I feel quite safe where it sits.

Three 5 gallon mineral spirits - Two 2.5gal containers - $37.50 per 5gal = $112.50
Shipping - $13.50
Tax - $7.50

Shipping was very prompt and in heavy duty shipping boxes. I used just 11.5 gallons to fill my parts cleaner to its proper level, saving 3.5 gallons for later use.

You could definitely get some mineral spirits at Home Depot or Lowes which ever your preference is..

The price per gallon is fairly prohibitive when you need 15 or 20 gallons of it but you are correct, it is readily available at either location.
