"I'm looking at a 1977 boa

"I'm looking at a 1977 boat w/ a Volvo 130/280 engine/drive. Depending on who I ask, parts are either tough to get or plentiful. My experience has been that the boat dealers tell me parts are tough to get, while the internet parts houses tell me they are redilly available. Both obviously have conflicts of interest which likely bias thier feedback.

What's the real deal on this thing? Am I going to be able to get parts?

I'm curious FastJeff, how did you come about your knowledge?

"By working on and studying mechanical things for 50 years! I'm still learning, by the way; an "expert" is the guy with a few years experience.

Not sure what to do on not getting screwed on parts. Just have to shop around, I guess.

Other parts will also be a available from a Volvo Penta dealer. The dealer will offer many parts that are not available from aftermarket manufacturers... but they are expensive."
