Overheating

i have an older omc i took it

i have an older omc i took it out the other day
and it started to over heat after a couple min.
is there a thermostat on them. thanks for the help

Yes there is a thermostat but

Yes there is a thermostat but check that the water pump is working.
The pump impeller is the cause more of the time than the thermostat when an older boat is heating.
It would help to know what model the engine and drive is if you need more information.
