"Evening,
This is my first post on this site, so forgive me if ive posted this in the wrong place.
I would like help on a problem I have with my Boat Diesel engine, a Thornycroft 90 1.5 marine diesel engine built 1981 I think.
I bought the boat approx a month ago.
Every now and then the temperature guage rises above 80 and goes right up to 110 top of the guage.
When I take the rad cap of I carnt see the water level. I then fill her up with water, approx half a kettle full and the guage drops straight away back down to its norman reading of 80. I can then cruise for 2 or 3 hours without a problem.
If I fill the rad up before I set off for a cruise, I dont have a problem.
Do you think theres a water leak somewhere? or do you think its something else.
There is a bit of water in the engine catchment tray.
Any ideas would be most helpful
Thanks
Stew"
