"I have a 1989 50HP, 3 Cyl, Mariner OB that sounds the temperature alarm only at WOT. If I back off to 4000 RPM or less the alarm stops. So far, I've replaced the water impeller (repair kit, and the complete water pump)twice each. Replaced the temperature sensor. Replaced a warped plastic plate under the rubber seal to the exhaust tube near the water pump. This step increased piss stream dramatically but... Still can't solve the problem. Any thoughts as what's next?"

"I would agree, only this motor doesn't have a poppet valve or a thermostat, well according to the manual that I own (not factory). It could be bad info, which is why I am reaching out. I am about to throw in the towel (and the motor) at this point."
