Overheated my evinrude 2

Overheated my evinrude 2 weeks ago
replaced the headgasket and water pump. Compression over 100 in both cylinders
Took it back out yesterday and it ran for 3 minutes slowed down started to smoke and acted liked it siezed up. Also I cant see any water coming out the spout. Is there a way that the water intake can be blocked? I did hit a sand bar just before all this happened. What should I be looking for? (besides a new motor)

"Rod..... Remove the lower uni

"Rod..... Remove the lower unit, and the thermo assy that sits on top of the cylinder head (under the plate that is retained with three screws).

Using compressed air or a water hose that has quite a force (or both) clean out the water passageways (down thru the thermostat area, up thru the water tubes).

Remove the water pump and double check the water intake. Be sure to seal the water pump surfaces (plate to lower unit, impeller hsg to plate) with "Sealer 1000" which should be available at any automotive type parts store.
