I have an old 1977, 35hp, 35752H motor that overheats and at times does not appear to have water shooting out when running. Has new impeller/housing. Unable to run after startup a few days ago and even blew the 20amp fuse.

Re: overheat

Wiring may have been damaged from overheat and needs to be checked for shorting to the block.( blown fuse ) -----------Is paint discolored ???-------------------Do a compression test to look for blown head gasket.Likely needs new head gasket anyway. Cylinder head is guaranteed to be warped and will need to be resurfaced and made flat.-------The grommet at the top of the water tube may be damaged. Power head will need to be pulled to inspect / repair.---------Results may vary.

I'm hearing what you saying racerone. I in the middle of a similar repair job on a 1973 40hp. Water Pipe was craked, removed power head and have also found that the cast under the plate is also corroded..and the cylinder head is also warped...owe the web we weave...grrrrr
