outdrive water infiltration 1976 4.1

So I've got a 1976 #1 drive. It's connected to a 4.1 L6 motor. I recently sealed the upper and lower units. I think it was last year or the year before. Well, I've got water in the fluid again. Where is the most likely place water is coming in? I was thinking the little rubber gasket that connects the upper and lower unit would be the easiest place for water to get into the oil.(oil passage hole) What do you think?

Did you replace the water pump base also? Only if you forgot the seal, called a quad seal.
