Outboard Overheating issue

Recently had the water pump replaced on my 1966 Evinrude sport four. When it was initially replaced it was running cool so much as I was able to touch the power-head with my hand without it burning. However after about 3-4 weeks of replacing it i noticed the engine started to heat up alot more so much that it was melting my terminal block. I have taken some photos of the water pump impeller and housing and have also noticed tiny groves in the plate housing of both the upper and lower casing. Could this be causing the issue please bear in mind that I am only running the engine using a flusher unit.

Depending on the size of the grooves??
Pics? Include a ruler in the pics.
Pics of the flusher.
Some motors don't like a flusher and will overheat.
Put it DEEP in a bucket, Cover the cavitation plate and make sure the impeller is under water.
Most will work even with some grooves.

I tried to put up photos before for some reason it's not letting me it's just hard to tell what the normal operating temp should be and what other things could be casusing it to overheat

put it in the lake or a big barrel.. I have a 50 hp twin that will NOT cool on a flush adapter.
I'm not insisting I'm just trying to determine if this is the most likely cause before I actually take it out to the lake and try it.
does anyone have an indea of roughly temp the engine should be at on idle? Also if the engine began to overheat would this cause problems with the idle and sputters I've heard ?

#1 You can NOT test any water pump on a flusher.
#2, Your motor requires a special kind of flushing attachment called a Tempo Flushette. Hasn't been made in about 30 years. Do you actually have one? Even if you do, see #1
