Out drive reinsall

Hi

I replaced the gimbal bearing on my 1995 Sea Ray Alpha 1 gen 2. Everything went OK until I went to reinstall the out drive. I fought with it for a week and broke down and bought an alignment bar. I made a slight adjustment up with the front of the engine. I get the outdrive almost on except for the last inch. The drive shaft looks to be ingauging the coupler and the shift parts are ingauging. I don't know if the drive shaft is catching on the bellows ring or maybe the coupler was damaged. The old bearing inner race was split into and some of the ball bearings were in the bellows.

Thank you
Dave A.

make sure you got all of the broken race out, on the newer gimbal bearings there are 2 notch's so you can replace only the iner bearing which is what usually goes. if it's a good inch or so your binding somewhere. don't forget to align the bearing with the coupler.
