"Recently bought a used wellcraft with a 1995 Mariner 90 hp 2stroke serial #6086959

Can't seem to find a place to get original manual??

so Winterization here in the Northeast- checked the site and came up with this
1. Run 15 minutes to warm up with fresh water and treated fuel (stabilizer with ethanol treatment.)
2. Drain lower end oil, inspect, inspect o rings/replace if necessary, fill up from bottom with quicksilver premium gear lube, close (How much is capacity?)
3. Fog caburetor till stall.
4. Remove plugs, pfog, turn a few times with wire off to distribute oil.

So far, I have seen nothing about water/antifreeze.
Are there any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help."

"The big thing is don't let water freeze in your lower unit! If this happens you would have to replace 1) the lower unit, or 2) get a new motor. Water drains out of the holes in the lower unit so the above doesn't happen, however you may need to trim your motor up and down to get most or all of the water out."

Thank you all. Does that serial number correspond with a 95 Mariner? That's what I was told it was.

"Jack, unless you are missing

"Jack, unless you are missing a couple letters in your serial you have a 1981 model.

Starting late in the 85 model year Merc added a Zero followed by a letter at the front of the serial...."

"Thanks Graham. I will double check the serial # when I go by the marina this weekend.
Thanks Lee.
Boat is still in the salt water, I put the motor DOWn so it is in sw, temp about 45.
When I pull boat, besides above motor stuff, all I need to do is lower and raise the engine a few times to drain out the water?"

"When you do haul it out, in addition to flushing, rince off the leg/lower etc with fresh water to get all the salt off and simply store it with the motor trimmed fully "down". That will allow any residual water to drain out simply by gravity.

If you are using fogging oil for the cylinders (or WD 40 or whatever) also give everything under the hood a good spray (not dripping wet, but a good coating) - wires, hoses, powerhead itself etc. That goes a long way to keeping "cooties" and moisture from causing rust/corrosion - especially if you are storing either outdoors or in an unheated environment."

"Graham, I rechecked the seria

"Graham, I rechecked the serial # and it is 0G086957 which I believe is the 1995 model.

Just in Time thanks for the winterize tips. Am I left with most of a tank of oil and treated gas??

Thanks for all the help."

"Yes, burn it in the car. I throw 50:1 mixed into my pick-up (and it's injected) with no adverse affects. I wouldn't do a whole tank on the truck, but putting even 10 gallons into a 30 gallon tank would make the 50:1 about 150:1 and the truck don't seem to mind

If it is just stablized that won't hurt a thing..."
