for a 2006 - VP exhaust Y pipe # 385 0794 needed. Ordered one on ebay - came and the side pipes are MUCH shorted than mine. Why would VP have the same darn part number with 2 entirely different parts? Triple checked stamping - its the exact part number. Mine is stamped on the bottom, the one received is stamped on the side.

During an installation years ago (replaced GM SBC with 335 series Ford... owner's request), I had to shorten the tops of the Y-pipe in order for the system to align and fit correctly.
Is it possible that this or something similar has been done to this Y-pipe?

A few pictures might be helpful!

Back in the late 60s ! ordered a new elbow for my AQ110. The original one was an elbow with a down pipe and a second elbow. The replacement with the same # was just the elbow. Had to fab the rest from hose and a generic cast elbow. "Creative" replacement parts not a new thing with Volvo.

No signs of modification on either far as I can tell (ill double check the ford one) - exhaust flapper holes are there, donor part has ford OMC written on it - probably a early 90s - just thought of all companies VP would have a pretty reliable part system in place by now-

Just annoying, want to get the customers boat done already!

Volvo Penta bought OMC in the early 90s and began producing the Volvo Penta SX and DP-S version stern drives in 1994.
The last OMC stern drive was produced in 1993.
In other words, by 1994 nothing was OMC anymore, it was all Volvo Penta by then.
However, even into 94 and 95, you may see a few parts that still have the OMC logo on them, but by 2006, nothing should say OMC on it!

E-Bay sellers often don't know what part they are trying to sell. They get the year and description wrong.
What they think is Volvo Penta, may actually be a pre-'94 OMC part, and so on.

That said, I am surprised that by part number you did not receive the correct part.

Hi ricardo - the seller wrote OMC ford 5.0 on it indicating it came off an OMC, however the part numbers are an identical match as noted above. and no signs of modification visible-
