Optimax 90 problem running at 5000 rpm and the motor just starts winding down. Any suggestion?

My optimax 90 starts to throttle down at times for no apparant reason
I placed a large inline filter in 2 days ago and it ran very well until last night.i really started choking down. So I unscrewed the filter to see if there was h2o in it and found multiple pieces of plastic like hard material. No water was found in the mix just this light brown looking debris. Could this debris be past the filter inside the engine

Fuel hose breaking down internally...is there another filter on the side of the engine? Remove the hose from the fuel tank, cut off 2 inches and split it open to see what is going on inside.

Agree on fuel hose break down especially older grey merc hose

That might have broken the lift pump. There is no filter in that hose. The plastic jams the pump check valves.
