"I have a pr. of 2002 150hp optimax outboards and the thing that always gets me is the impellers. I have to replace those every season. The tech at the dealership told me that these motors run so close to overheat due to emission standards, that any wear on impeller, or the "set" it takes during the off season is a cause for overheat alarms due lack of water pressure to block. Also there are multiple thermostats on head and they are very suseptable to getting stuck if you were to intake sand. Other than that they run great! Easy on fuel and start everytime. 300hrs on each"
