Optimax 150 no start, beeps after 20 seconds

I have a 2001-2 150 Optimax that just quick while running. Normally, when I turn the key from off to on I’ll get a short 3 second beep to notify the system is ok. Now, when I turn the key on from off, gauges come on, the motor does nothing then 20 seconds later a continuous beep alarms and the fuel pump kicks on then all briefly stops and repeats again. The fuel pump only runs during the continuous beep. Motor turns over fine but never fires. Any help is greatly appreciated! In Orlando area.

Things I've tried.
1.Ive swapped all 3 relays. Verified all wok fine.
Checked the 4 fuses in the motor. None blown.
2. Flipped off the kill switch and confirmed the alarm never comes on with key on. This tells me the kill switch is definitely letting current reach the motor(working).
3. Replaced fuel filter and primer bulb.

Yeah, take your serial number to your local Mercury dealer and order a new one. But, before you do that, Maybe you can find a loaner ECM to test with just to make sure it is bad.

Ok, so a dealer isn’t able to plugin a scanner to the ECU to diagnose whether it’s bad? Sounds like it’s worth popping open the ECU to see if any component is visibly damaged if it’s considered junk at this point.

Ya, I had a feeling it was potted. Everyone reputable around here has a 3 week wait so it looks like it’ll be a while before I can even get confirmation if that’s the definite issue. Thanks for the help.

Resurrecting a SUPER old post I know...but I have this exact issue on a 2002 Mercury 250xl efi. Any update on what the solution was? I mean....the EXACT same thing (won't start, 20 seconds later a beep that never ends, etc.).
