I recently purchase a tritoon

I recently purchase a tritoon with a 2007 135 Optimax. I'm just wondering what kind of stories are out there about this warning sysetm. I got a steady alarm and had to have the water pump replaced. I was driving at about 10 mph when this happened. I've got mixed feelings about this system and wondered what other people think.

"The guardian system is excellent - it finally gives people a heads up that they are going to cause damage to their motors from lack of scheduled maintenance.

If everyone followed the recommendations in the owners manual, there would be no need for the guardian system, but since they don't it's a decent way to prevent something from getting a bad name.

Opti's are a very hi-tech contraption that only vaguely resemble a "classic" 2 stroke outboard and they must be well cared for or they won't last.

Without that alarm you could have welded your pistons into the cylinders because of an overheat.

So you be the judge, is it a good system? It just saved you the 10-13K in motor replacement had it not been there (or a 3000 dollar rebuild at the very least)...."
