Ooops, prop running in idle, forward while in reverse, stops when in forward (after impeller replacement)

After the impeller replacement i had a heck of a time getting lower unit to match up and slide all the way back in. I toyed with I assume the shift shaft (twisting by hand) as that what was keeping the lower unit from sliding in... and now my prop is running forward while in idle, speeds up forward when in reverse, and stops when in forward. I assume there is some sort of starting point like "turn it all the way clockwise when reinstalling the lower unit" or something like that. Appreciate some help (after you finish laughing LOL)
