I just got the boat and it has twin 270 Crusaders. One engin runs fine. One boggs down when you give it gas. I had both carberators rebuilt, checked replaced fuel filters and fuel pump. Compresion is 140 on all 8. Swaped the rebuilt carbs. thinking factory setting may be wrong. I don't even know what else to try. Engin runs fine to about 1500 RPMs after that just bogs down. Any thoughts?
 
You do not mention what year model or any data on ignition systems.

See your OEM specs for BASE advance and TA (total advance), of which is the more important of the two.
If this one engine is NOT receiving a progressively advancing ignition lead, then that may be your problem.
Dirty/rusty/corroded ignition advancing system will cause havic (assuming that your ignitions are mechanical advance).

The beauty of twins, is that you can pretty easily switch carburetors, and either eliminate them, or isolate one as the source of the issue.
Cost to do so, is the cost of two new base gaskets.
Pretty darn cheap as a part of your P of E.

The boat is a 72 silverton but I beleave it was repowered in 95. The preveous owner gave me the boat uder financial distress so he is not very helpful. Replace cap roter points and condenser. Not electronic.
