Finally the Tennessee boating

Finally the Tennessee boating season is near and I have found that through the winter months I have developed trim pump problems. Never encountered this before. The pump whines like low fluid but i dont know how or where to check the level or how to bleed air out of the system. I managed to get the unit to raise but it struggled. Now it acts like the pump is low on fluid. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a small tank near the pump or part of the pump. There should be a plug on the top of the tank. That is where you check and fill the oil. Make sure the drive is down before you fill with oil .

"Don't know what kind of a drive you have but suspect a Cobra. Here is a pic of a pretty standard Cobra trim n tilt unit. NOTE...you need to raise the drive fully up if you can to remove the hydraulic pressure first. Then remove the reservoir screw and top up until the fluid comes out the hole. Put a rag around the screw area to avoid any little surprises. Dexron II transmission fluid will do.
