OMC to Mercruiser

Hi I have a OMC Cobra leg and have been offerd a Mercruiser 406 leg think it is the Alpher does any one know if this is the straight swap ?
I know one of the leg's is but can not think what one it is now.

Will fit the hole in the transom but make sure the gearing is correct for your motor.

Coupler you need, inner transom bracket and everything off the back. Shift converter, I think the cables are a straight change out. But the steering linkage, is different i think.

It is so much easier if you had the whole boat without the motor in it to just change it over.

And of course the motor got to come out of your boat after you remove the cobra.

People are paying big money for the whole corbra setup.
 
Hi thank's for the info I have been offerd the hole boat all I have been told is this

the engine is a 6 ltr cheveroltte bottom end only...
top is the mercruiser....406

At the moment I have a OMC Cobra leg it was running on the 2.3 Ford engine but I did a engine change last year and put a TDI VW turbo diesel engine in the bayliner 18
the mercruiser is out of a 21 foot boat
 
No the VW TDI is the engine I put in my boat I am in the UK and could not get a replacement 2.3 engine so put the VW 19 TDI diesel engine in the boat on the OMC cobra leg .It seemed a good idea at the time and has worked out really well uses about 1/3 the fuel of the 2.3 and has a few extra HP .
I have been offered a boat with the 406 in it the engine has had it by the sound of it but was thinking will the leg fit

I got a 3.0 Cobra. Think it's worth anything?
