omc stern drive lift manually

I have a 1985 sea ray, omc stern dirve. Sometime tilt motor does not work how do you lift it up manually? Some one told me there are 3 bolts that need to be removed. please help

You have a stringer ? See the 3 bolts on the half moon gear remove them the half moon gear will come off.

Yes I have a stringer I dont have my boat down at my house Can I get to the half moon gear if the prop is down.

Yes... click on the link...will help with the problem. Post back when you do have the boat and you need more help. Oh get a manual, Seloc # 3400 upper right hand corner... then i can reference the exact page, paragraph, capiche ?

page 8-9 upper right hand corner see the pic labeled " 1 " 9/16th bolts. Remove those 3 holds the half moon gear.

Double check the connection of the tilt motor pull apart the connection clean it and spray it.
