"How do you remove the shiftin

"How do you remove the shifting cable from the intermediate housing after you remove the retaining clip without ruining it? That's an expensive cable to replace. Please help.

Thanks,
Gerry"

"Gerry,

I destroyed my firs

"Gerry,

I destroyed my first cable by trying what you're doing. Here's what I did for my second. Get some KY Jelly, or any lubricant that won't eat the rubber. Get a friend to help. From one side of the boat, push at the cable. It may take a bit of push-pull-wiggle tie to get it loose. Be gentle, and patient. When there's enough cable through, have your friend add a little pull. Be patient, is all I can advise.

Or take a saw and cut around it. Might be cheaper.

-Good luck.

"When I removed my Drive this

"When I removed my Drive this year, I did it before I removed said drive. I used a 12 inch pair of Needle-Nosed Pliers, working from the top. Re-installing the cable is the pits, though.I used my Daughter inside the boat, my Son-in-law to guide in the cable and start clamps, and I held the Drive and positioned it.

"Here is what I did, used some

"Here is what I did, used some WD40...pulled pushed and cussed. Nothing happened, would not budge. I got a 8 inch or so 3/8" socket extension. I put it above the cable and below the upper case. Wedged it in there, pulled down and wahlah...came right out."
