I read the last few treads on dual omc drive with one power steering of the port engine but I couldn't find anything covering what Iam looking for. if any body have some experience with a similar problem I will appreciate your feed back.
The problem that I am encountering is---- very hard to turn the steering wheel it been getting harder in the last couple years. Now I been away for a month or so and the boat been sitting in the water since spring with out much movement. I cheked the power steering unit and it's full with oil to the mark and clean, the belts are nice and thight and the cable ram is greased. No sign of oil leak any where.
Iam wondering if it has anything to do with the stern drive swivel bearings or what ever is in there ?
Engines 4.3 gmc. omc stern drives 1989 cobra
Thanks

I assume your power steering is attached to stbd engine, have tried disconnecting the link to the port engine and try it and then disconnect the power steering ram from the stbd just to eliminate the drives as the problem?

Look in the engine bay on the transom and there should be a grease fitting for the linkage.
You'll have to look hard for it but one is there.!!

Fitting normally on the back side. Once you disconnect it at link and its still stiff replace it ASAP as it's getting close to seize/snap time. Trust me you don't want that to happen. Mine was an 89 also.

Thanks Bob for your suggestions, So far I been able to disconnect both drives with a lot of difficully to get to the back of the engines. I found the port drive moves with ease but the starboard is very hard to move. I tried to turn the steering wheel with the engine running with both of them disconnected and it is still hard to turn, by the looks of it seems to be more than one problem.
