Why is it that a replacement power steering pump for my 1989 Bayliner with the 5.8 Ford/Cobra outdrive will cost me around $400 from a Marine Dealer while my local Auto Parts store will charge around $80 for a power steering pump to suit the Ford 5.8 engine? What possible "marinization" qualities can the marine version have? Is there some special pressure generated by the marine version, or is this simply a question of once it's painted gray to match the original OMC engine the price of the marine pump is set to meet the "market"?
Many thanks for any help.
