I am trying to figure out why
I am trying to figure out why my OMC won’t turn over. It was stored for awhile and is acting crazy now. It is a 82 with the inline 4 GM Motor. I pulled the plugs (none were rusted) and dumped ATF in all cylinders and tried to turn it over with the starter and just got a “clunk” sound. I then used a whole can of WD-40 spraying in each cylinder and letting sit for two weeks and still getting the “clunk” noise when I try to start it. I pulled the starter and had it tested and it was fine. When I had the starter off I tried to budge the fly wheel with a screw driver and could not get anything out of it. The old breaker bar to the harmonic pulley will not work with this engine because there is no bolt on the front of the pulley it is pressure seated with housing over it. Does anyone have any ideas on trying to get this think to turn over? Could I be looking at a frozen outdrive? Is there an easy why I can eliminate the outdrive without actually pulling it off? I just want to eliminate what’s not wrong so I can focus on the issue at hand. Also could I be looking at something in the shift box? The boat ran like a sewing machine when it was pulled from the water.
