"My 1994 boat came new with OMC controls & wiring harness (p/n = ?). It also came with the Trim Switch Conversion Kit (p/n 390073). I had an old 45 hp w/other controls, so the OMC stuff was removed and stored.
Now a brain-teaser for the site control experts:
I just replaced the old 45 with a 1977 Johnson 70EL77S (no tilt/trim).
Questions:
(1) Is my circa 1994 control & harness compatible with this 1977 engine? The OMC installation instructions (stored with my controls) don't identify compatible engine models/years.
(2) The Trim Switch Conversion Kit says it is compatible with 1979 and newer outboards with integral trim. If my controls/harness can be used (question 1) can I buy a newer tilt/trim kit that is compatible with my trim switch conversion kit - and will it fit a 1977 outboard?
