"Not sure what your question is, are you missing the other hose and you want to replace it? Looks like there should be a PCV valve on the side with a hose see items 23 and 29. The hose is PN 913467 and the PCV is 913760. Should have a hose from both the oil fill cap and the pcv valve going to the flame arrestor.

"Pat the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) it just allows the fumes from the crankcase to fed back into the carb or intake to get burned again. Sometimes they can clog up causing problems, usually just pull it out and shake it, the ball inside should rattle around."

On my 89 5.8's the oil fill cap one attaches to the top of the flame arrestor bolt to recycle exhaust and the PVC goes to the back inlet on the carburator spacer without which will not run right.

"Bob, I have double checked mine and I just have elbows coming off the Rocker covers with the pipes routed up to my flame arrestor. Definitely no ball or anything else in there???"

"Pat...I'm not sure what dictates whether the manufacturer puts the pcv valve in or not but I'm pretty sure your elbows with the hoses do the same job, the pcv just acts like a one way valve to allow the fumes to escape whereas without it I guess it could become a 2 way opening. Did find this reference when I was looking around so I don't think I'd be concerned with your setup.

Some marine engines do not use a PCV valve. They just have a hose from the valve cover(s) to the spark-arrester so any fumes/pressure that build up in the crankcase will be pulled back into the cumbustion chamber and burned."
