Hello, Im new to this forum but any help would be appreciated. My girlfriend has a 1978 searay with an omc 800 that will not come out of gear/no reverse. As far as I can tell its stuck in forward but its hard to tell since the engine is hydro locked.
Is there a way to pin down if the lower unit is good?
As far as I can tell it is a mechanical shift since it has the zinc anode by the idle holes.
Does the engine have to be running to shift out of forward? I've tried to find neutral but no luck. Is there any troubleshooting that I can do without the engine running?
Any help would be appreciated
