OMC 800 Stringer shift cable interchangability question.

I have a question for the OMC guru’s here. I have to replace the shift cable on my OMC 800 Hydro-Mechanical drive. The current part number on my cable housing is 982795.

My question is this. Is the cable replaceable with any other 800 OMC cable numbers such as a 982802 or a 982563 or a 982951 cable or any other number?

Thanks for any help you can pass along.

This the lower cable, i ain't spending a hour looking up numbers. See if it is you need a hydro-mech. cable for the lower, the fully mechanical drives use a different lower.

If this cable your asking about is from the throttle to the shift convertor " bracket " then others will work with the correct ends.

This is the cable from the shift box down to the lower part of the stringer drive. It is a dual encapsulated cable. Even though my boat is a 1985, it appears that the Mechanical drive was replaced with a 1979 – 1982 Hydro-Mechanical drive. It has the 3 holes on exhaust housing and no zinc.

I understand that the Hydro and pure mechanical drive cables are not interchangeable, I am trying to find out if my OMC 982795 Hydro shift cable is interchangeable with any other OMC Hydro shift cable and that OMC compatible number.

Thanks again for any help.
