"i have just taken my 1988 Bay

"i have just taken my 1988 Bayliner 2556 Command Bridge for a run, as I opened the throttle the engine appeared to be low on power. I lifted the engine cover to find the engine covered in a very milky looking hot oil. I checked the dipstick which was also milky and the level very high. When the engine is running the oil appears to be coming from the carb area. I assume water is getting into the oil. At low speed there appears to be no misfire, the engine does not overheat and the oil pressure appears stable.

"Went to the boat on Tuesday and pulled off the inlet mainfold. Found everything covered in gunk. The manifold gasket appears to have blown and allowed water to flow down the distributor aperture into the oil pan, removed 3 litres of water from the oilpan. Also found one of the exhaust risers partially blocked. the engine is now being removed from the boat so that i can clean out the mess. Have been told by the yard marine engineers to buy a new engine as this one will be ruined by the salt water. Has anybody had any experience with an engine that has been cleaned up, if so what is the proceedure for cleaning out the engine and what should be used.

Any idea's are very welcome."
