OMC 5.7 (1983) DC Contactor Wiring Help

Hi,
First time OMC owner and first time posting.
I recently purchased a 1983 Doral Bow Rider with the 5.7 V8 (Model 574SPHRCTR). The Seller was moving into a retirement home and the boat had been winterized and left in his barn for several years.
I've got most of it back together but am confused by the Trombetta DC Contactor wiring, it looks like a relatively new part that was added but is not wired in. I have 2 black wires off it and 3 posts to connect to. From a little bit digging I believe the smaller gauge black wire should tie into the starter switch (not sure where though) and the larger posts should pick up on the incoming live and then out to the starter motor. The boat currently wired with the live (heavy gauge wire) coming straight off the battery to the starter, should this be connected the on the solenoid instead of the battery??
I've attached some pictures but as you can see this has me confused to say the least, if anyone has any idea how and where I should be connecting this up it would be much appreciated.

My guess is someone wanted to replace the slave solenoid with the part in question.

as far as which wire to which terminal, best to get an accurate wiring diagram for that model...I'm not sure OMC had fully embraced the ABYC color coding scheme at that point in time.

the slave solenoid's purpose is to mitigate the voltage drop in the start circuit. They are usually wired with 10gauge wire on the large posts; one coming from the battery lug on the starter's solenoid (the feed) and the other large post going the the little S terminal on the starter's solenoid. the little terminal is fed from the S terminal on the key switch, usually after going thru the neutral safety switch. If there are only three terminal, then the frame must be grounded for the slave solenoid to function.

Thanks Makomark, the ABYC colour coding is definitely not in effect in this snakes wedding of a wiring pile up!
I think I have it fathomed out now, appreciate the advice.
