OMC 4.3l Cracked Block.

At the end of last season I found my block to be cracked, common I hear for these engines. I am now looking for a replacement, which is easier said than done. I am going to by a reman from local GM dealer, here in New Brunswick, Canada, which is where I am from. What I am unsure of is what I need, I am pretty sure mine has the mechanical fuel pump, but not sure about the main seal. 1 or 2 piece? Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction as to what I should be ordering for a replacement. Thanks for any help.

First and foremost... learn why this engine cracked so that you do not undergo a repeat.

You'll want to purchase a 4.3L Marine engine in order for the build to be correct.
And if Raw Water cooled, you'll need the Marine head gaskets.

The automotive engines after XXXX year discontinued the machining for the mechanical fuel pumps due to TBI being used.

My Boat has an ancient 225 Buick V6. Had the block crack on the Starboard side, UNDERNEATH the head. Removed the Exhaust Manifold, cleaned it REALLY good with a wire brush on a drill, and hit it with JB Weld. The crack ran just above the first 2 frost plugs about 12 inches long. So far, it has NOT leaked ONE bit. You might want to try this as a cheaper way of fixing, but it's up to you.
Now, when I prep it for winter, I take the Rad hose off at the TOP, and connect my shop vac to the hose , running in REVERSE (that means blowing air, instead of vaccuming). Usually do this for about 3 to 4 minutes, with the drain plugs OUT. It sure evacuates the water from the block!!!
