"I hope someone can help me... I have a 1992 Lowe Tahiti 2200 aluminum deck boat. The motor and outdrive are a Cobra 3.0. Last year I had some occasional overheating issues and replaced the waterpump in the lower unit. Used a OEM kit from my local dealer. After a few more trips to the water it overheated again, this time I took the boat to my local dealer who found that the water pump shaft in the lower unit had broken where it was pressed into the drive shaft. I had this complete shaft assembly replaced. After 3 more trips to the water, the water pump shaft broke again in the same location, where it is pressed into the drive shaft. My dealer has replace the shaft assembly again, but my question is has anyone else expierenced anything like this before? My local dealer did not find anything out of place or irregular the second time and is thinking that maybe the shaft was defective?

I do know that since I have replaced the water pump that the engine tempature is running different. It used to stay fairly constant and would warm just a little while ideling. Now it is staying cooler while ideling and getting warmer while the engine RPM's are up. I have only ran the boat once since the second shaft assembly was replaced so time will tell, I am just a little leary and wish I had a explanation. My local dealer said that he has only replaced one of these shafts before my problems. I am going to replace the thermostat before going to the water agian, thinking that some of the original impeller may have gotten lodged in the thermostat not allowing it to open all the way for maximum cooling?

I would greatly appriciate any help.

Thanks."
