Hello. I have a 1976 3.0 chev.

Hello. I have a 1976 3.0 chev. Its got the rear main out.I was wanting to know if i could pull the motor or do i have to pull the drive first?.Also can i use a automotive rear seal or does it have to be marine? Thanks for your help

"nothing marine specific about the seal. If you can find a compatible rear seal for a car it will be fine. Unlike mercruiser and others, You CAN pull the engine without pulling the drive on a 76 OMC as long asyour hull design gives you 4 or 5 inches clearance ahead of the dampener on the front of the crank shaft to pull the engine ahead and clear the splines of the shaft.."

Thankyou Hy Stat for the help. the guy give me the boat he said he put a crank kit in it. but he either put the old seal in or he put it in backwards. thanks again.
