Older Morse throttle control, HELP !!

Just returned from the Bahamas on my new to me 1989 Tiara 3100 which has twin Crusader 454's

Got really tiresome having to hold the throttle controls for four plus hours to prevent "throttle creep"

I've looked for a tension adjustment screw, but can't find any.

Anyone have ideas based upon these photos? Morse 1.jpgMorse 2.jpg

Morse SR Twin, same as my 4. The friction brake is the strap held on with a couple of slotted screws, which is visible in your photo. Try to tighten the 2 screws on each. Don't confuse with the "tower" mounted clutch detent, which is not installed on the unit in your photo.
ANd more importantly, where in the bahamas did you go?

These?

I've tried to tighten them but they seem to be at the end of their range. Is there a bushing or something that goes under the strap?

This year with the price of fuel we stayed on Grand Bahama. Two days at West End then down to a rental condo in Lucaya that had a dock. Nice set-up btw. Even rented a car and drove all the way to the East end tip at McCleans Town. Very interesting and will happily answer any questions

We go every year and have stayed in Bimini, plus most of the Abacos from Walkers to Marsh Harbor. Price of fuel this year had me keeping my mileage down to 300 to 350.

I can only guess that maybe there is some unwanted grease under the friction strap. Try to remove, clean up , and assemble dry. I've done many a trip to McLeans Town. Once by moped. But the real treat is two islands SE of that. That's the pix in my profile. It's been two years since my last islands trip. Jones'n real bad!

Thanks, I'll try that before the "clamp on the cable trick"

We wanted to take a boat ride over to Sweetings Cay while in McLeans but ran out of time. Hope to get back some time soon
