looking for advice. I have a 7

looking for advice. I have a 72 18 hp rude. I have not cranked it in about 2 years. I replaced the plugs and used new fuel but it would not crank. I dont think I have fire to the plugs because i didnt get an arc when i put a scewdriver in the wire and held it near the plug. I think it may be my coils? Am I on the right track?? It also is leaking fuel through the exhaust ?????? This motot ran great a few years ago but it sat for a while.

"The points can corode and become useless. You need to pull the fly wheel and clean the points. If the points are coroded, you'd have to replace them anyway so it wouldnt hurt to clean them with super fine sandpaper(600 grit), and then clean them with a little Lacquer Thinner, GENTLY give it a blow with an air hose, set to .020 to see if you can get a spark. The fuel comes through the exhaust because it's not being burned. What kind of compression does it have?"
