Older Evinrude Decompressor

How much of a difference in compression does the decompressor make? The engine is a 58 35hp Bigtwin. I can't pull it over fast enough by hand to get an accurate comp. number. (I can barely pull it over at all by hand---two hands on the recoil, one foot on the motor). With the electric starter I added, I get 145 psi on both cyls. Maybe thats why its hardly used..previous owners couldn't pull it over to start it?

Simply take the lever off and test compression.-------------Put lever back on the decompressor arm and try again.
